Named by the MCA in 1963, "Yukla" is derived from the Tanaina word "Yukahina" meaning
"Eagle River." It might be a typo in the August 1964 Scree, but it appears that the name
of the peak may have been "Kuluk" before that. The first ascent route was via the Icicle Glacier,
from the west, but a more popular route appears to be from Twin Falls to the east.
A number of attempts have been made at the W ridge, but to my knowledge none have been successful.
